I am sure I wasn’t the only one who has been hit by the “Frozen” bug. Imagine, I sing or hum songs from the Disney animated film almost involuntarily. And true enough, the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO), the country’s leading orchestra, got the bug too.
During the last leg of PPO’s Out of the Box free concert series at Rizal Park last March 22, the orchestra led by conductor Herminigildo Ranera alongside with soprano Charissa Gacutan and tenor Andrew Luigi Ito performed a medley of songs from “Frozen” including the pop anthem Let It Go.
Love Is An Open Door
I was smiling ear to ear when the orchestra started playing For The First Time In Forever, which is my favorite song from the film. The brass section gets me every single time! I truly love the orchestration of the song. And it’s really great to hear it being performed live.
For The First Time In Forever
It’s absolutely crazy! (Of course, in a very, very positive way. 🙂 )
And did I mention this concert was for free?
Aside from “Frozen” songs, the orchestra also performed musical pieces catered to children like Peter and the Wolf, Alpine Shepherd, Gypsy Airs, Children of Sanchez and the Pirates of the Caribbean musical score.
The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra Out of the Box: Children’s Concert was presented by the National Parks Development Committee, Cultural Center of the Philippines, People’s Television Network and the Kiwanis Philippine Luzon District.
